Charles Foix

Charles Foix ( born 1 February 1882 in Salies -de- Béarn, † March 22, 1927 ) was a French internist and neurologist.

Life

Charles Foix was the son of a doctor. He studied medicine at the University of Paris and was taught by Pierre Marie at the Hôpital de la Salpêtrière. In 1921 he worked on a TB ward in Bicêtre. Since 1923 he worked at the now named after him, hospital of Ivry- sur -Seine. He was regarded as a gifted teacher and an excellent academic clinicians. His scientific contribution to the neurology involved the description of vascular syndromes, ie the context of arterial occlusions with the consequent symptoms. He has published writings on the anatomy and vascular supply of the brain and partly together with Ion Niculescu ( 1895-1957 ). In addition, he has researched and published on the pathological changes in Parkinson's disease. He died at the age of only 45 years.

After Charles Foix Foix - the Alajouanine syndrome Foix - Chavany -Marie syndrome and Marie- Foix - Alajouanine syndrome are named.
