Charon (band)

Charon was a Gothic-Metal-/Dark-Rock-Band from Finland. It was founded in 1992. Their musical style has been influenced mainly by Sentenced. Named has the band for the ferryman Charon from Greek mythology. In summer 2011, Charon gave their resolution known after 2010 guitarist Pasi Sipilä already left the band.

Biography

Charon was founded in 1992 by Antti Karihtala, Teemu Hautamäki, Pasi Sipilä and Jasse haste. The first demos as Inexorable Reciprocation, Dies Irae and Pilgrimage arise and still contain mostly death metal music. 1995 Juha -Pekka comes Leppäluoto added as a singer. After they write more melodic songs, they get a contract in 1997 Emancipation Productions.

The first music video Serenity is rotated before in 1998 with her debut album will be released Sorrowburn and 1999, the second album Tearstained. 2000 go with Charon Sentenced on tour through Finland and change shortly thereafter to Spinefarm Records, where in 2001 the third album will be recorded. The corresponding single Little Angel provides a good introduction to the Finnish charts (up to 5th place), then it is also the second music video. 2002 Downhearted is finally released and also increases equal to one in the Finnish album charts. A European tour with Nightwish and After Forever follows.

2003 Singles In Trust Of No One and Religious / Delicious appear as harbingers for the album The Dying Daylights, which will be released on September 22 of the same year. 2005 will be published in August the first single Ride On Tears, nearly a month later followed by the album Songs For The Sinners. In February 2006, again begins a European tour.

On 5 February 2010 it was announced that guitarist Pasi Sipilä has left the band and Charon will be continued as a quartet.

On 3 June 2011, the band announced on their website that they are - will dissolve - after their last appearances in the summer of 2011.
