After Forever

After Forever was a symphonic metal band from the Netherlands, which was founded in 1995 and disbanded in 2009.

Band History

At the time of founding in 1995 by Mark Jansen and Sander Gommans the music direction of After Forever Death was mostly metal oriented, with influences from classical music. As Floor Jansen joined the band, the style was varied, consisting of death remained, however, always. The first album Prison of Desire (2000) got positive feedback from the press, which the band supported.

With the release of After Forever Decipher in 2001 was recognized internationally. With success they gave in Europe and South America concerts and played at almost all possible venues in the Netherlands. After the album's release, however, mastermind Mark Jansen left the band and formed the band Epica. In 2003, the remaining members on the mini album Exordium, which contained a small DVD and gave a sneak preview of the 2004 concept album Invisible Circles issued.

Invisible Circles reached number 26 in the Dutch album charts and got good reviews in Germany, which was also an important market for After Forever. Published in September 2005 Remagine the fourth album. It shows After Forever significantly catchier than the previous three albums. After separating from her label Transmission Records in June 2006, published shortly after this a best-of of After Forever. It bears the name Mea Culpa and contains songs of recent publications and unpublished material.

In October 2006, the band signed a contract with the German label Nuclear Blast. After 23 March 2007, with the single Energize Me already appeared a taste of the new album, this was released on 20 April 2007 under the name of After Forever. As a guest musician Jeff Waters of Annihilator and the German heavy metal singer Doro Pesch was committed. Additional collaboration with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. The album managed to climb to sixth place on the Dutch charts, and in Germany it reached a chart position (# 98). As a DVD single, the piece was published Equally Destructive on 21 September 2007.

In spring 2008, the band announced that they would like to pause at least a year. The reason was Sander Gommans ' serious illness in 2007. Early February 2009, the group was known, however, that it has been dissolved, as the individual members wish to enter new musical paths.
