Mark Jansen

Mark Jansen (born 15 December 1978) is a Dutch metal musicians.

In 1995 he founded together with Sander Gommans the death metal band Apocalypse ( later: After Forever ), in which he participated as a songwriter. In 2001, after the release of the album Decipher, he left the band to form a new group called Epica singer Simone Simons with, his then-girlfriend. In addition to the guitar, he supports each of the female mezzo- soprano voice through grunts and screams. In the fourth album by his band, The Divine Conspiracy of 2007, found mainly in the guitar tracks, more heavy sounds. In the fifth album by Epica Design Your Universe, the Grunts were significantly more present than on the previous albums, so that for example the EMP review drew a comparison with Dimmu Borgir. 2010 Mark announced, that he has formed a new band called MaYaN, published in 2011 their debut album Quarter Past. In contrast to Epica Mark sings in MaYaN only, but does not play guitar. But his main band Epica he faithfully continues.
