Floor Jansen
Floor Jansen [ flo ː r jɑnsɘn ] ( born February 21, 1981 in Goirle ) is a Dutch singer. She was from 1997 until the dissolution in 2009, the lead vocalist of symphonic metal band After Forever. Since October 2013, Floor Jansen lead vocalist of the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish.
Biography
In 1997, the then 16 -year-old Floor Jansen joined as lead singer of the band After Forever. After Mark Jansen, one of the band's founder and unrelated, After Forever in 2002 left to form the band Epica, Floor Jansen was solely responsible for songwriting and lyrics.
In 1999, she began studying at the rock academy in Tilburg and at the Fontys Conservatorium took singing lessons (both now part of the Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten of private higher education provider Fontys ). In 2004, she completed her studies at the Academy successfully skirt and began a musical and opera studies at the Conservatorium.
Since then she has also taught himself alongside, among others, on the rock academy with their own course called "Wanna Be a Star? ", Or in cooperation with a private music school in his home with singing lessons, band coaching and workshops.
Outside their band's career seemed Jansen also in various other musical projects, especially in the Dutch musician and composer Arjen Lucassen projects. They often come as a guest vocalist for the band Ayreon and Star One are used. They also can be heard on an album of French metal band Nightmare.
After the release of After Forever in February 2009 Jansen announced ( Pagan's Mind ) to want to work on a new musical project called " Sinh " along with Jorn Viggo Lofstad. This project, however, was placed in favor of a new metal band with Joost van den Broek and Waldemar Sorychta called " ReVamp " on ice. The debut album of the same name was released on May 28, 2010.
On 1 October 2012, the symphonic metal band Nightwish announced that Floor Jansen will replace the previous singer Anette Olzon during the current Imaginaerum World Tour. Anette Olzon and Nightwish had previously parted " amicably ". On October 9, 2013 Nightwish announced that Floor Jansen is now officially engaged as a member of the band. Floor Jansen went in December of 2013 with the Magnum Opum Rockestra, led by Marcel Heijnen on a special Christmas Metal Symphony Tour. It was this is a 32 -person orchestra. Other singers of this project were Udo Dirk Schneider, Joey Belladonna, Chuck Billy, Joacim Cans and Michael Kiske.
