Chayanta Municipality

The municipality Chayanta is a district in the Potosí Department in the highlands of South American Andes State of Bolivia.

The municipality Chayanta is one of three Municipalities in the province of Rafael Bustillo and is bordered on the southwest by the municipality of Uncía and to the northwest by the municipality of Llallagua.

The central location of the municipality is the town with 2,072 inhabitants Chayanta ( 2001 census ) in the southwestern part of the county.

Geography

The municipality Chayanta is east of the Bolivian Altiplano in the high valleys of the Cordillera Azanaques in the northern part of the Cordillera Central. The vegetation is that of the Puna, the climate is a typical diurnal climate in which the daily temperature fluctuations are larger than the seasonal variation.

The mean annual temperature of the region is 9 ° C, the monthly average values ​​vary between less than 5 ° C in June / July and 11 ° C from November to March (see climate chart Uncía ).
