Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea

Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea was a Romanian football club from Ramnicu Valcea, Valcea county. He played ten seasons in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A, and won in 1973 the Romanian Cup.

History

Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea was founded in 1946 as Vâlceana Râmnicu Vâlcea. He played in the first year of its existence in the third highest Romanian football league, the Divizia C. A short time later, the club changed its name to CSM Râmnicu Vâlcea (on German workers' sports club). Since at that time the Divizia C was discharged only irregularly, played CSM - apart from the season 1948/49 - in regional leagues. With the reintroduction of Divizia C in 1956, the club, who took now under the name Flamura Roşie Râmnicu Vâlcea, the League was back on and played from then on for promotion to the Divizia B. After another name change in Unirea Râmnicu Vâlcea (1957) and Santierul Govora (1958 ) the team played from 1960 under the name Chimia Govora in Divizia B.

The second- highest Romanian league belonged to the club for ten years continuously. During this time, he could always put in the middle of its season. After another name change in Unirea Râmnicu Vâlcea (1962) and Oltul Râmnicu Vâlcea (1965; named after the river Olt, is due to the Râmnicu Vâlcea ) he took in 1967 the name Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea, under which he was to celebrate his greatest success.

After relegation to the Divizia C in 1970 and the chances of promotion followed the successful two decades the club's history. The greatest success came in 1973, when the club move into the Romanian Cup final and there could defeat the only gambling in Divizia C Constructorul Galaţi in the duel of two outsiders. After this success Chimia took part in the following season at the European Cup Winners' Cup where, however, already in the first round was against Glentoran FC from Northern Ireland terminus. In the same season succeeded the first time jump into the highest Romanian football league that Divizia A.

After the immediate descent at the end of the season 1974/75, it took three years before the return succeeded to the Upper House. The best result in this period was the eighth place in the 1981 season / 82nd After the descent at the end of the 1986/87 season the club struggled initially for a few years in vain for the re-emergence, before he gradually slipped into the relegation battle.

After renaming in FC Ramnicu Valcea in 1994, he rose in 1996 from the Divizia C before in 1998 was followed by a subsequent descent and crash related to the Viertklassigkeit. In 2004, the club finally disbanded due to financial problems. The sporty successor CSM Râmnicu Vâlcea, which plays in Divizia B since 2005.
