Chlewnica

Chlewnica ( German Karlshöhe, Kasch. Chléwnica ) is a small town in the northwest of the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship and is part of the gmina Potegowo ( Pottangow ) in the powiat Słupski ( Stolp ).

Geographical Location and Transport

Chlewnica located in Pomerania, about 35 kilometers east of Slupsk ( Stolp ) in the Polish country road 6 ( former German Reich Straße 2, now also European Route 28), by the German -Polish border at Kołbaskowo ( Kolbitzow ) about Szczecin and Koszalin to Gdansk and continue until Pruszcz Gdański ( Praust ) runs. In this main road joins Chlewnica a side road that comes from Kozin ( Kosemühl ) (at the province road 212 section of the former German Empire Road 158) Mikorowo ( Mickrow ). The nearest train station is Potegowo on the railway line from Stargard to Gdansk.

History

A former Vorwerk of Zechlin (now Polish: Żychlin ) the earlier Karlshöhe place indicated is closely connected with the history of this village and was until 1945 a village within the municipality Zechlin. It belonged to the official and the civil registry district Lange evil ( Pogorzelice ) in the district of Stolp in the administrative region of Pomerania in the Prussian province of Pomerania.

Towards the end of World War II Karlshöhe was occupied on March 9, 1945 by the Soviet Army. As a result of the war was the place as Chlewnica part of Poland.

The village is now a part of the rural community Potegowo in powiat Słupski in the Pomeranian Voivodeship ( 1975-1998 Slupsk voivodship ). Here now live 30 people.

Church

By 1945, the predominantly Protestant Karlshöhe was in the parish Schurow (now Polish: Skórowo ) in the parish church Stolp - old town in the ecclesiastical province of the Church of the Old Prussian Pomerania Union. The last German clergy was Pastor Heinz Suhr.

For the predominantly Catholic since 1945 Chlewnica the parish official connection after Skórowo ( Schurow ) remained. However, the parish is now in the deanery Główczyce ( Glowitz ) incorporated in the diocese Pelplin of the Catholic Church in Poland. Here surviving Protestant church members are now part of Cross Church in Slupsk in the Diocese of Pomerania - Greater Poland the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland.

Extracurricular former Karlshöhe was oriented to Zechlin out.
