Chocnějovice

Chocnějovice is a municipality in Okres Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. In the seven villages associated 1968 inhabitants ( 2007) live. The main source of income is agriculture.

Geography

The community consists of seven places that are in the north of the district in the valley of Mohelka. The main town Chocnějovice is about 8 kilometers from the city Mnichovo Hradiště.

History

The lower reaches of the Little River Mohelka was inhabited since prehistoric times. Findings have already been received from the Neolithic period, including Germanic, Slavic and medieval settlements were detected archaeologically.

In Chocnějovice itself probably a small noble manorial system was developed in the mid-13th century. The first known owner, Olen z Chocnějovic, is mentioned in 1316, the first mention of the name dates back to 1322. From the 14th and 15th centuries several other names of the local landlord family are occupied. The farm bordered on the south by the great possessions of the Cistercian Abbey Hradiště and to the north by the equally mighty St. John's reign in Český Dub.

The St. Gallus Church is architecturally related to the construction of the St. John's Coming in Český Dub and is associated with the construction of St. John in the area. She served from 1352 to 1405 as a parish church. Mentioned are also attested from 1549 to 1621, a fortified manor house and a Grange.

Attractions

The early Gothic St. Gallus Church in Chocnějovice was built around 1240 and was remodeled in the 18th century in Baroque style. The buildings of the Meier farm have been partially preserved in its baroque form until today. The remains of the fortified manor house were leveled in the 1950s.

The municipality consists of the districts of Buda, Buřínsko 1.díl, Buřínsko 2.díl, Drahotice, Chocnějovice, OUC, Rostkov and Sovenice.
