Choe Thae-bok

Choe Thae -bok ( born December 1, 1930 in Namp'o, Province P'yŏngan - namdo ) is a North Korean chemist, university professor and politician of the Workers' Party of Korea ( WPK ), currently both Secretary of the Central Committee (CC ) of the WPK as well as Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly.

Life

After visiting the school in Mangyongdae he first graduated from the Kim Il-sung University and then at the Faculty of Engineering at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig, where he graduated in 1952. Another study at the Lomonosov University in Moscow he finished in 1954 and subsequently worked as a teacher before he became an instructor in 1959 the Central Committee Department of Education.

In 1961, Choe Thae -bok, a professor at the School of Chemical Engineering in Hamhung and in 1965 also became the director of the local branch of the Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences and in 1968 Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering.

After 1972, Head of Section in the Central Committee Department of Education, was carried out in 1976 he was appointed deputy head of this department, before he became President of the Technical University Kim Ch'aek 1978.

In 1980 he first took over the post of chairman of the Education Commission, the Council of Ministers of North Korea and then in 1981 the Minister of Higher Education. At the same time he was chairman of the Korean -Bulgarian Friendship Society. In the seventh parliamentary term in 1982 he was elected deputy of the Supreme People's Assembly, which he has since consulted for the first time. In addition, he was elected to the 9th Plenum of the 6th Central Committee in 1984 as a candidate of the Party Central Committee, before 1986, he was elected a member of the Central Committee and be heard by it ever since.

At the same time Choe Thae -bok 1986 Central Committee secretary for education, science, cultural and technical exchanges and 18th plenary session of the 6th Central Committee on 23 May, at the 12th Plenum of the 6th Central Committee on 27 December 1990, member of the Political Bureau of the CC. He also was 1992 Head of the Central Committee Department for scientific education and in 1993 chairman of the Solidarity Committee with the world's population. As such, he took between 1993 and 1994 and some of the tasks of Kim Jong -sun, who was Central Committee Secretary for International Affairs at that time. At that time he was already part of the top party leadership and was a 1994 funeral committee for Kim Il-sung, where he took 15th place in this.

Since the tenth legislature in September 1998, Choe Thae -bok is chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly. In this role, he also strove to improve the science and technology of the country.

Most recently, he was elected on the third party conference on 28 September 2010, member of the Politburo, and has since also Central Committee Secretary for International Affairs.
