Choi In-hun

Choi In -hun ( born April 13, 1936 in Hoeryong Hamgyŏng - pukto, in what is now North Korea) is a South Korean writer.

Life

Choi In -hun was born in 1936, when Korea was under Japanese rule. When the Korean War broke out, his family fled to the south. From 1952, he studied law at the Seoul National University, but broke off his studies and joined a six-year period of service in the military.

Even during this time he made his debut as a writer with a history of the club GREY and Raul's story in the magazine " Jayu Munhak " ( Free Literature ) were published in 1959. 1960 published the novel The course, which was a great success immediately. This is followed by his four great novels The gray man (1963-1964), travel to the West (1966 ), A day in the life of the writer Kubo ( 1966-1972 ), Typhoon (1973).

In addition to his novels and short stories Choi also writes plays, reviews the events of the day in Korean literature and culture, and has worked as an essayist. From 1977-2001 he taught creative writing at Seoul Institute of the Arts before he retired.
