Chrétien Géofroy Nestler

Christian Gottfried Nestler (also: Géofroy Chrétien ) ( born March 1, 1778 in Strasbourg, † October 2, 1832 ) was a professor of botany and pharmacy in Strasbourg. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Nestl. ".

He was a pharmacist in Alsace, 1806-1810 Military pharmacist. He studied in Paris and was a student of LC Richard. He was in correspondence with Johann Bartholomäus Trommsdorff. Kurt Sprengel named after him, the South African Korbblütlergattung Nestlera ( Tribus Gnaphalieae ). In 1830 he discovered on the banks of the Rhine, the moss Trichostomum viridulum from the family Pottiaceae.
