Chris Jones (guitarist)

Christopher Paul Jones ( born November 11, 1958 in Reno, Nevada, † 13 September 2005 in Northeim, Germany ) was an American singer, musician, composer and guitarist.

Biography

Jones began at the age of 5 years to play the guitar. A few years later he decided to become a professional musician and was recorded with 11 years at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland, in a program for gifted children. There he discovered his early model of Johann Sebastian Bach, to whom he dedicated his composition Sonata in D. For this work he received the 1972 Award Young Composer of the Year by the Panel of the Conservatory. A little later, Jones found his way to the blues and dealt with musicians such as Robert Johnson, James Taylor or Little Feat.

In 1976, Jones in the United States Army and was stationed for three years in Wiesbaden. During this period, he laid the foundation for his musical career in Europe. In the following decades he took plates on as an accompanist for singers (inside) like Sara K., Allan Taylor and Reinhard Mey. Even as a solo artist and with the blues harp player Steve Baker, he went on tour and in the studio.

In August 2005, a malignant form of the lymph gland was at Jones Hodgkin's disease, diagnosed at an advanced stage.

How many American musicians he had no health insurance and could not pay for the hospital costs. Friends and musicians applied to the costs. On October 3, a memorial concert was held in Wolfenbüttel, with many friends and colleagues like Abi Wallenstein, Marc broad fields and Steve Baker Jones paid their last respects. For a further benefit concert met on 25 October 2005 Ammer Book ( b. Tübingen) artists like Sara K., Allan Taylor, Christian Willi son, Werner Lämmerhirt, Paul Stephenson, Noel Shannon, Kieran Halpin, Steve Baker, Geraldine MacGowan, Brian O 'Connor and others.

Music

Jones ' repertoire included many musical styles including blues, country, folk and rock'n'roll. Many of his songs are difficult to assign to a specific genre. He also conducted guitar workshops and played mostly on handmade Lakewood -acoustic guitars.
