Chris Killen (2010)

Christopher John " Chris " Killen ( born October 8, 1981 in Wellington ) is a New Zealand soccer player.

Career

Killen began his professional career at Manchester City, where he came only three times by substitutions to the course. He was loaned in his time with the Citizens to Wrexham and Port Vale. In 2002 he signed for Oldham Athletic for £ 250,000. In 78 league games get him 24 goals. In January 2006, Killen walked free transfer to Scotland Hibernian. In his first game he was able to score a goal in the sensational 3-0 Hibs against Rangers in Glasgow in foreign Ibrox Stadium in the fourth round of the Scottish FA Cup. Four days later he scored the first goal in the 7-0 victory against Livingston. Although he was only come in January, he had already finish the season with five goals to his credit. With the departures of striker Garry O'Connor and Derek Riordan end of the season 2005/ 06 was expected on the part of those responsible for Hibernian from Enniskillen to take on even more responsibility.

After an outstanding season Killen joined free transfer to Glasgow at Celtic.

He plays on the international stage for the All Whites, the New Zealand national team. Since his debut at the OFC Nations Cup on 19 June 2000 against Tahit Killen has got off to an impressive hit rate in the national team, but was initially only used sporadically until it was later used on a regular basis. In 2008 he was appointed together with Ryan Nelsen and Simon Elliott as one of three players over the age limit in the Olympic selection of New Zealand, where the New Zealanders took part for the first time at an Olympic Football Tournament. In a preparation game for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, he scored two goals against world champions Italy. In the tournament then Killen came in all three games in New Zealand for use and also played in the playoff win over Bahrain, with the New Zealand qualified for the World Cup, an important role.

Also in the 2010 World Cup he was in the squad of coach Ricki Herbert and came in all three games of the team to use.
