Christian Albrecht Jensen

Christian Albrecht Jensen ( born June 26, 1792 in Bredstedt, North Friesland, † July 13, 1870 ) was a Danish painter and portraitist. In Denmark, the Jensens images belong to the general cultural heritage. He is regarded as the representative of the gold age of Danish painting.

Life

His father was a Boy Jenasen, a glover, and his mother was Mary Magdalene, nee Jessen. In 1810 he began studying at Christian August Lorenzen at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Copenhagen. In 1818 he traveled to Rome and received this contact to the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. In 1823 he returned to Copenhagen, where he married Cathrine Lorenzen. From 1832 he worked as a copyist in the painting collection of the Danish Royal Family at Frederiksborg.
