Christian Graf von Krockow

Christian Graf von Krockow ( born May 26, 1927 in Rumbske ( Pomerania ), † 17 March 2002 in Hamburg ) was a German political scientist, historian and writer.

Life

Krockow was born in 1927 in Pomerania, the son of uradeligen Pomeranian noble family of Krockow. He visited the Baltic School Międzydroje the Athenaeum Stade. 1945, he went to collect the Wehrmacht as seventeen and internment in Denmark to North-West Germany.

He studied from 1947 to 1954 sociology, philosophy and constitutional law at the University of Göttingen and the University of Durham. In 1955 he received his doctorate with the thesis The decisionismo at Ernst Jünger, Carl Schmitt and Martin Heidegger, its social function and its social theoretical importance at the University of Göttingen.

From 1961 to 1965 he was professor of political science at the University of Education, Göttingen, then at the University of Saarland and from 1968 to 1969 at the University of Frankfurt am Main. As an emeritus he worked as a freelance scientist and successful writer in Hamburg. His biographies of Frederick II, Emperor Wilhelm II, and the resistance fighter Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg found rich attention. From 1970 to 1973 he was a member of the founding committee of the University of Oldenburg, where he became involved. 1981 he has been appointed as Honorary Professor University of Goettingen.

In 1994 he received the Dr. Leopold Lucas Prize and the Friedrich- SCHIEDEL Prize for Literature. For his contributions to the "interpretation and reflection of the socio-political presence " in 1995 he became an honorary doctorate " Rerum politicarum " the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg excellent.
