Christina McKelvie

Christina McKelvie ( born March 4, 1968) is a Scottish politician, a member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP) and Member of the Scottish Parliament.

McKelvie attended St Leonards Secondary School, the Anniesland College, Cardonald College, the, the Nautical College and the University of St Andrews. She is the mother of two sons

Political career

For the first time McKelvie joined the Scottish Parliament elections in 2007 as a candidate of the SNP in the constituency of Hamilton South. Originally John Wilson was provided for this purpose, the candidate already on the parliamentary elections in 2003 for that constituency, but in their favor resigned it. McKelvie could not prevail against the Labour candidate Tom McCabe himself. Since McKelvie but on the Regional Evaluation of the SNP for the election Region Central Scotland occupied the fifth place, it was one of the five members of the SNP, who moved to Central Scotland in the Parliament. As part of the constituency reform of 2011, the constituency was abolished in South Hamilton and McKelvie was a candidate for the parliamentary elections in 2011 for the newly created constituency of Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse. She won the direct mandate before Tom McCabe and moved a second time in the parliament.
