Christon Tembo

Christon Tembo ( b. 1944 in Kasempa; † March 6, 2009 in Lusaka ) was lieutenant general and a politician in Zambia.

Life

Christon Tembo was a professional soldier. He was educated at the Royal Military College, Camberley in England and was Lieutenant General of the Zambian armed forces, which he commanded as Commander in Chief from 1984 to 1987. From 1987 to 1989 he was Zambian Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany. In the political upheaval at the end of the Second Republic in 1991, a member of the Movement for Multi Party Democracy ( MMD). In the period from 1991 to 1995 he was Minister of Tourism and practiced between 1995 and 1996, the Minister of Foreign Affairs from. From December 1997 to 2001 he was Vice President of Zambia.
