Christophe Guénot

Christophe Guénot ( born January 7, 1979 in Saint- Rémy ( Saône- et- Loire) ) is a French wrestler. He won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the welterweight division at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Career

Christophe Guénot began at the age of six years, 1985 in Champforgeuil with the rings. He concentrated on the Greco-Roman style, just beginning his career, he competed in a few competitions in free style. From Champforgeuil he moved to Bagnolet and is a member of U.S. Cercle de Lutte de Paris, the Paris Metro Ringer club for several years. In the Paris Metro, he is also employed. Has been trained or is he by Lionel Lacaze, Frank Abrial, Jean -Marc Charday and Patrice Mourier, the national coach of the wrestler in the Greco-Roman style in the French Wrestling Federation.

In 1999, Christophe Guénot French junior champion in both styles in lightweight and finished in the same year at the French Championships seniors in the same weight class in Greco-Roman style of the 2nd place and the 1st place in free style. During his career he won a total of seven French league titles in the seniors where he won each in the Greek -Roman style at middleweight in 2010 and 2011.

In the years 1996 to 1999 he was employed by the French Wrestling Federation in four international junior championships. Only in the year 2006 he made a sustained attention to himself when he was in Moscow welterweight scored a victory over the strong Ukrainian Wladimir Schazkych at the European Championships in 2006 and a medal just wide for a narrow point loss to Reto Bucher from Switzerland.

In 2007, Christophe Guenot then won at the 2007 World Championships in Baku welterweight with victories over Joakim Aardalen, Norway, Thomas Dantzler, United States and Ilya Shafran, Israel, losing to Mark Overgaard Madsen, Denmark and victories over Konstantin Schneider, Germany ( 2-1 rounds, 8-7 points) and Julian Kwit, Poland a bronze medal and thus its first medal at an international championship. This good form he could also preserve in 2008. He won this year in Tampere at the European Championship welterweight with victories over Ilya Shafran, Aleksanders Visnakovs, Latvia and menat arginine, Switzerland, losing to Peter Bacsi, Hungary, and a win over Valtteri Moisio, Finland, on a bronze medal.

For the most success in his career, he came at the Olympic Games in Beijing. He was there, however great luck of the draw (2 x bye ) so that he has to win the Olympic bronze medal sufficient at a loss to Manuchar Kwirkwelia from Georgia wins over Konstantin Schneider and Peter Bacsi. Particularly noteworthy in this context that his younger brother by six years Steeve Guénot in Beijing in Greco-Roman wrestling in lightweight even won the gold medal.
