Chuck Hayes

Charles Edward "Chuck" Hayes Jr. ( born June 11, 1983 in San Leandro, California) is an American professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA. The 1.98 meter tall Hayes plays the position of power forward.

Hayes established himself in his college years at the University of Kentucky as a rebound and defensive specialist and was part of that U.S. team that participated in the Pan American Games 2003. He introduced himself for the NBA Draft from 2005 available, but was not taken: A factor was his " small " body height of 1.98 meters, which he was smaller in its common position power forward and ten inches more than its competitors. Hayes was limited from the start of the season the Rockets to the minimum salary committed as a " free agent ", but managed not to jump into the 15er squad and then played for the Albuquerque Thunderbirds of the NBDL lower class. In January, Hayes was taken by the Rockets for a second time as a temporary free agent, but then sat down with a number of games with ten or more rebounds in the team and was then firmly committed. His task was especially the " big men " to relieve Yao Ming and Juwan Howard and make the dirty work for leading scorer Tracy McGrady.

In the following season, 2005/2006 to Hayes played in the root formation, scored 5.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and was part of that team that reached the first playoff round and failed in seven games to the Utah Jazz. As Houston committed to its position in the next year the filigree Luis Scola, he seemed to be Benchwarmers again. When injured but Yao, Scola / Hayes played in the Rockets frontcourt, once won 22 games in a row, but again lost in the first playoff round against the Jazz.

Hayes is known for its strange free throw technique. Instead of a normal item roll - flowing movement he stops his hand movement in the litter from, makes a clearly visible break and throws practically from the finger joints. This stop provided, inter alia, in a playoff game against the Jazz that the Utah players were running too early in the throw cone and the litter had to be repeated. Hayes met in college still normal 74 %, and in his first NBA year 65 % of his free throws, he managed 2007/2008 just a hit rate of 45%, and its balance of 2008/2009 ( 36.8 %) is one of the worst in NBA history. Since then, his hit rate has however increased to 67% ( 2011/12 ).

For the 2011/2012 season he wanted to switch to the Sacramento Kings, where he signed a four - year contract for $ 21.3 million. His contract was canceled after during the initial examination health problems were diagnosed. After further in-depth study him a game release was granted and he signed a new contract in Sacramento.
