Michael Malone (basketball)

Michael Malone (born 1971 as the son of NBA coach Brendan Malone in Astoria ) is an American professional basketball coach. Since the 2013/2014 season he coached the gambling in North American professional basketball league NBA Sacramento Kings.

Coaching career

From 1994 to 2001 Malone worked as an assistant coach in college basketball, including until 1995 for the Oakland University in 1994, 1995 to 1998 Providence College and from 1999 to 2001 for the Manhattan College. 1998 to 1999 he had led the men of the University of Virginia basketball program office.

Malone began his NBA professional coaching career in 2001 as a training assistant with the New York Knicks, where he eventually rose to assistant coach in 2003. In 2005 he moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he also held the position of assistant coach and five times in succession, the play-off rounds reached during its employees, including the NBA finals game of the season 2006/2007 in June 2007. In the season 2010/2011 he worked as an assistant coach for the New Orleans Hornets. In 2011 he moved again as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors, where he was the highest-paid assistant coach of the NBA in the 2011/2012 season and was considered the best NBA assistant coach.

In June 2013 he moved to the Sacramento Kings, where he 2013/2014 holds the position of head coach since the start of the season.
