Canton Charge

The Canton Charge are a team of the NBA Development League, which is based in Canton, Ohio.

History

The team was founded as the Huntsville Flight as a founding member of the NBA Development League in 2001 in the city of Huntsville, Alabama. They wore their home games in the Von Braun Center and reached in its third season, the D -League Finals, where they were subject to the Asheville Altitude. In 2005, she left the city.

In the following season they played as the Albuquerque Thunderbirds. In 2006 they were champions of the Development League, by using 119:108 defeated the Fort Worth Flyers in the final. Until the 2009/10 season they stayed there before they moved to the next season to Rio Rancho, New Mexico and the team New Mexico Thunderbirds founded.

On July 7, 2011 it was announced that the team would move again to Canton, Ohio, after the Cleveland Cavaliers had bought the team. Alex Jensen was named to her first coach and on October 13, its logo and its colors were released. On October 20, the first player of the team were: Keith McLeod and Jamine Peterson on October 25, the new jerseys were shown to the public. In the D -League Draft this season's batch picked in the first round Tyrell Biggs.
