City of Botany Bay

The City of Botany Bay is bordered on the north by the Central Business District, the city center of Sydney, and south to Botany Bay. The area includes 13 Districts: Banksmeadow, Botany, East Botany, Eastgardens, Eastlakes, Hillsdale, Mascot, Sydney Domestic Airport and parts of Daceyville, Kingsford, Matraville, Pagewood and Roseberry. The seat of the City Council located in the district Mascot at the northwest end of the LGA.

The Botany Bay was on April 28, 1770 the venue of the first landing of the British in Australia by James Cook. The two headlands and the adjacent land form the small Botany Bay National Park, home to the south side of memorials landing and discovery.

In Botany Bay is the heaped container port in Port Botany, an oil refinery and the largest airport in Australia, the Kingsford Smith International Airport. In the dunes of the south side was, among other things, the film Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome rotated.

Management

The Council of the City of Botany Bay has seven members. Two members are elected by the residents of three wards (A, B, and C. Ward), chairman and Mayor ( Mayor ) is also elected by all residents of the LGA. The three electoral districts are defined independently of the city.
