Geography
Townsville lies to the east of the state on the coast about 1120 km north of the capital, Brisbane.
The administrative headquarters of the LGA is located in the city center Townsville City. History
Since 1866 there is a separate office in Townsville. Thuringowa in 1879 also to an administrative district (division ), 1986 it became the City. In the following years, but parts of the territory Townsville or other LGAs were slammed again and again. Finally, in 2008 followed by the full merger of Thuringowa and Townsville Townsville Regional City.
Management
The Townsville City Council has 13 members. The Mayor ( Mayor ) and twelve other Councillor to be elected by all residents of the region. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
