Clarence Childs

Clarence Childs ( Clarence Chester Childs, born July 24, 1883 in Wooster, Ohio; † September 16, 1960 in Washington, DC) was an American hammer thrower.

At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 he won the bronze medal behind compatriot Matt McGrath ( 54.74 m ) and the Canadian Duncan Gillis ( 48.39 m) in the hammer throw with 48.17 meters. His personal best jump of 52.53 meters he put in the same year on June 12 in New York City on.

Clarence Childs graduated from Yale University. From 1914 to 1916 he was the coach of the American football team at Indiana University.
