Claroteidae
Chrysichthys auratus, " Pimelodus auratus " is a synonym.
The Claroteidae are a family of fish from the order of catfish -like ( Siluriformes ). They are found in rivers and lakes of Africa.

Features
Claroteidae have a moderately elongated body and four pairs of barbels around the big mouth. The short - blasted dorsal fin and the pelvic fins each have a powerful hard jet. An adipose fin is present. The anal fin is short. The dentals exhibit at the point where they meet, an extension at the bottom on.
System
The Claroteidae be attributed to the classical scheme of the family of Siluroidea and earlier as part of the sting catfish ( Bagridae ) were considered. Molecular biological studies confirmed the independence of the Claroteidae as a family, which is placed in the "Big Africa " group.
