Classical Mushroom

Classical Mushroom is the second music album published in 2000, the Israeli Psytranceband Infected Mushroom. It is one of the best known and most successful albums of the band.

Formation

While the debut album The Gathering yet met with little interest, Classical Mushroom marked the commercial breakthrough of Infected Mushroom. The album, with its influences from classical music sees the band in retrospect as a commercial decision, even though the mixture of classical and electronic music at the time was still unusual. The musicians accompanying the music scales in a classic style added, so this should act more melodic. The recordings took place in the band's own studio Infected Studios, all instruments and effects were recorded by the band members Erez iron and amide Duvdevani who produced the album also. Initially, the album came to criticism, but then became one of the best selling albums of Infected Mushroom and received a gold record.

Reviews

According to Dean Carlson of Allmusic the album with gentle acoustic guitar and washboard noise, which are supplemented by increasingly rapid kicks, Acid trance elements and various synthetic noise begins. In addition, elements are as typical of the House female vocals or played with a piano melodies used, which were rather unusual for the genre around 2000. Since these unusual elements are all already used from the first song Bust a move, the rest of the album comes in the comparison, not fully exploited.
