Life

Gora, son of an army officer, first studied law; However, already during his studies he was a frequent visitor to the " Cineguf " - nationwide popular film club - in his area. After first own experiences as an actor, which, however, remained insignificant, Gora moved to Rome, where he could play in 1937 quickly small roles in films by Guido Brignone and Gennaro Righelli.

Especially after the Second World War, he became a fixture in numerous artistically remarkable films; In 1949 he celebrated beside his theater debut in Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray and the debut as a film director. Until his death, he starred in around 130 films and directed nine partially self- scripted, but they were able to achieve any significant success.

Gora was married to actress Marina Berti since 1944 and was the father of three children. Andrea, Carlo Giordana and Cristina were also an actor. Gora, who lived on a vineyard near Rome, also used the pseudonym Emil Jordan, an anglicised form of his bourgeois name. At the age of 84 years he died of a heart condition.
