Clemens Fuest

Clemens Fuest ( born August 23, 1968 in Münster) is a professor of economics at the University of Mannheim, president of the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW ) and member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Career

After graduating from high school Antonianum Geseke Fuest studied economics at the University of Bochum and the University of Mannheim, there Fuest graduated in 1991 with a diploma. In 1994 he received his doctorate at the University of Cologne, in 2000 he completed his habilitation at the University of Munich. From 2001 to 2008 he was professor of Economic Political Sciences at the University of Cologne. After that, he was Professor of Business Taxation at Oxford University, research director of the Centre for Business Taxation and Managing Director of the Financial Science Research Institute at the University of Cologne. In 2013 he became president of the ZEW and professor at the University of Mannheim.

Research priorities are Fuests economic and financial policy, international taxation, tax policy and corporate finance, labor market and social policy and local finances. The Handelsblatt counted Fuest 2006 in a ranking of the strongest research younger economists in the German-speaking area of the top 10

He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Federal Ministry of Finance and was its chairman from 2007 to 2010, a Research Fellow of CESifo and IZA. He was also to October 2008 and again from 2013 member of the Kronberger circle.

Since 2011, Fuest is a member of the University Council of the HBK Braunschweig.
