Clinton Hill (athlete)

Clinton Rory Hill ( born April 19, 1980 in Johannesburg) is an Australian sprinter of South African origin, who specializes in the 400 -meter run.

In 1997 his family moved with him to Australia and Hill received in June 2000 for Australian citizenship.

Sporty he initially made with a third place in the 400 -meter run to gain recognition in the East Asian Games 2001 in Busan. In the same year he won at the Universiade in Beijing over this distance the silver medal. In 2002 he won the first of three consecutive Australian national champion titles in the 400 -meter run. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, he finished eighth in the 400m. At the World Athletics Championships in Paris in 2003 he reached the semi-final round.

The biggest success of his career, he celebrated at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 with the 4 x 400 - meter relay. As a finisher in the final, he won with John Steffensen, Mark Ormrod and Patrick Dwyer in 3:00,60 min surprising silver medal behind the U.S. season.

In 2006 he won at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in the relay. About 400 m, however, he retired from in the semifinal round. Due to injury problems he missed the World Athletics Championships 2007 in Osaka. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he won the Australian 4 x 400 - meter relay team to sixth place in 3:00,02 min.

Clinton Hill has a competition weight of 79 kg at a height of 1.85 m. He starts for the Sydney University Athletics Club and is coached by Tudor Bidder.
