Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs ( Original title: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs ) is an American children's book by Judi Barrett and illustrated by her husband, Ron Barrett. It was first published in 1978 by Simon & Schuster publishing house Atheneum Books, followed by a published in 1984, " Trade Paperback " edition from sister company Aladdin Paperbacks. Based on a 2007 survey, ordered the National Education Association, the book in the category with the title: " Teachers' Top 100 Books for Children" a. It was in 2012 one of the " Top 100 Picture Books " of all time, based on another survey, conducted by the School Library Journal.
A sequel, Pickles to Pittsburg, in 2000, also published by Aladdin Books, and followed from 2009 " hardcover " edition. A second sequel, Planet of the Pies, was released on 27 August 2013.

Summary
The book tells of a, narrated by a grandfather to his grandchildren, bedtime story, which tells of the everyday life of the citizens of the city " Chewandswallow " which is characterized by its daily, meteorological patterns. The city is served by the daily feeding raining from the sky meals. A sudden weather change brings uncontrollable storm, storms and unnaturally large, dangerous food in the city, where the inhabitants still enjoyed her former lifestyle so. Through her now, by the natural disasters, endangered lives, they now change their daily lives dramatically. You make the storm to advantage. However, they are gradually being forced to learn how you now receive food on a normal way.
The next morning, wake up the grandson of the man, to see the snowfall. After they stormed out hastily to play in the snow. Continuations

Films
On September 18, 2009 Sony Pictures Animation released a computer-animated 3D film adaptation. The accompanying DVD a 5 January 2010 has been published.
