Club of Vienna

The Club of Vienna ( CoV ) is an international organization with 24 members, which deals with the "Causes of Growth". From the work of CoV should emerge reliable, far-sighted expertise and finally proposals for the solution of societal problems. After the Club of Rome has investigated the limits to growth, the founding president of the CoV Rupert Riedl was situated in the investigation of the causes of growth. The CoV is non-partisan.

Tasks and objectives

The attention of the Club of Vienna is especially the intellectual, cultural, ecological, economic and political forces with which social life can be a socially and ecologically compatible and have to prove themselves in the tension between local, regional and global interests; globalization and the associated with it changes in all areas of life and the possible scenarios for the city of Vienna.

The Club of Vienna wins the theme -setting impulses from the social practice of conflict containing public affairs, always in the same core side: There are distributional conflicts and values ​​questions. Be distributed benefits and burdens, resources, habitat, quality of life. What we want (not ) have? As we want to (not ) live? What criteria do we judge our actions?

Priority in the work of the CoV So have questions that are significant for the protection of livelihoods, for the coexistence of the people, for the maintenance of peace and a long-term stable economy.

Interdisciplinarity and the insights of evolutionary theory, the principles of thought with which routes are explored and initiated a paradigm shift in the economy, politics and society. The CoV wants to bring the constraints and momentum of the economy and the monetary system with the needs of sustainable social and environmental behavior into balance. The overall welfare of the people, the stability of society and the environment must gain precedence over purely economic goals.
