Codex Koridethi

The Codex or Codex Koridethi Coridethianus ( Gregory -Aland no Θ or 038; von Soden ε 050 ) is a Greek manuscript of the New Testament, which is dated to the 9th century.

Content

The manuscript contains the four Gospels on 249 parchment leaves with gaps in Matthew 1.1 to 9; 1.21 to 4.4; and 4,17-5:4. The format is 29 x 24 cm, the text is in two columns, 25-28 lines.

Text

The Greek text of Codex represents the Byzantine text-type in the gospels of Matthew, Luke and John, but the caesarean in Mark. This manuscript is the main representative of Caesarea text. The text of the Codex is assigned to Category II.

It lacks the Pericope adulterae (John 7:53-8:11 ).

History

It is named after one of his former Repositories, Koridethi, a place near Batumi on the Black Sea.

The Codex is kept in the Institute of Manuscripts ( Gr. 28) in Tbilisi.
