College (TTC)

College is an underground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Yonge- University - Spadina line of the Toronto Subway, at the intersection of Yonge Street and College Street / Carlton Street. The station has side platforms, is used daily by an average of 49 340 passengers (2009 /10).

Nearby are the shopping center College Park, the headquarters of the Toronto Police Service, the Sports Arena Maple Leaf Gardens and part of Ryerson University. It offers connecting flights to a bus route and to tram line 506 The opening of the station on 30 March 1954 together with the portion Union - Eglinton Yonge Subway, the first subway on Canadian soil.

The station is owned by two murals by Charles Pachter called Hockey Knights in Canada (named after the TV show Hockey Night in Canada) decorated. That the Western Platform, the Toronto Maple Leafs is, that on the eastern station platform their biggest rivals, the Canadiens of Montreal. In the year 1984, when the mural was created, the Maple Leafs played yet in the Maple Leaf Gardens. Their owners Harold Ballard wanted to prevent the use of the logo of the Leafs, unless the Canadiens mural will not run. Julian Porter, chairman of the Toronto Transit Commission intervened in court and pointed with success suggests that a logo on a piece of art does not constitute a violation of copyright.
