Colombotte

Colombotte is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Colombotte situated at an altitude of 285 m above sea level, 4 km south of Saulx and 11 km east-northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, a slight increase on the southern flank of the Colombine, below the level of the Bois de la Craye.

The area of ​​4.35 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside between the basin of Vesoul in the west and the level of Lure in the east. From northeast to southwest, the area is crossed by the Alluvialniederung Colombine, which provides for the drainage to Durgeon. The Talniederung is on average 275 m and has a maximum width of one kilometer. Agricultural land use predominates here.

The valley is flanked on both sides by relatively steep slopes that lead over to the adjacent, partly forested, partly planted with meadow land heights: in the south of the Bois de la Craye (366 m), to the east the Valdoie, on the 376- m highest elevation of Colombotte is achieved, in the north- east, the Planches (320 m) and in the northwest of the Bois de Carneillet. In geological- tectonic terms, the site is north of the Colombine from an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). The heights south of Columbine are constructed of a durable limestone layer of the middle Jurassic period.

Neighboring communities of Colombotte are Saulx and Creveney in the north, and Châtenois Velleminfroy the east and Calmoutier the south and west.

History

In the Middle Ages Colombotte belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the viscounts of Vesoul and later the Lords of Faucogney. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Colombotte is a member of the 12 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Grands Bois.

Attractions

The village is characterized by various houses from the 16th to the 18th century, showing the traditional style of the Haute -Saône. From 1847, the Mairie -École ( local government and school) comes with its bell tower.

Population

With 62 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Colombotte one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century ( in 1886 142 people were still counted ), a slight population growth has been recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Colombotte is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and in the agglomeration Vesoul.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Saulx after Calmoutier.
