Conflans-sur-Loing

Conflans -sur -Loing is a small commune in the Loiret department in the Centre region. It lies at the confluence of the Loing and the Ouanne, has an area of ​​914 hectares and is one of 360 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The elevation is 96 m.

The name Conflans derives from the French word " confluent " (confluence ).

History

Until the 18th century the surroundings of Conflans to a partly owned by the Lords of Perthuis, on the other in the possession of the Lords of Charmoy was.

In 1787 the domain of Perthuis came by purchase into the possession of Baron Michel de Triquet Triqueti ( 1748-1821 ), who came from a Piedmontese family and had served the King of Sardinia as envoy at the Russian court. He bequeathed to his son, Baron Henri de Triqueti, as the romantic painter and sculptor made ​​a career under Citizen King Louis -Philippe, and came through the design of the door panels of the Madeleine church in Paris to international fame. At his death, his daughter Blanche entered († February 28, 1886 ) to the site. She was in a second marriage with the American Edward Lee Childe († November 29, 1911 ) married, the nephew of General Lee, who had distinguished himself in the American Civil War. After Blanche died in 1886 in Paris of tuberculosis childless, Edward Lee Childe took over the estate. He married in 1888 his second wife Elizabeth de Sartiges, who inherited the castle and the domain of Perthuis 1911 by him.
