Conny Andersson (racing driver)

Conrad " Conny " Andersson ( born December 28, 1939 in Alingsås ) is a Swedish former racing driver.

Conny Andersson, son of a Swedish shop owner, at a young age was a great motocross rider. He came relatively late in the international motorsport. First, he bought a used Formula 3 Brabham BT21 and launched so at national race in his home country. Between 1970 and 1976 he was a regular in Formula 3 Championship. In 1974, he was able to win four wins in his March - Toyota. In 1975 he finished the Formula 3 race in Monaco, which is considered as a springboard for a career in Formula 1, as the winner, but was disqualified for a false start.

Andersson took part in a single race of the Formula 1 World Championship. He started on August 29, 1976 at the Grand Prix of the Netherlands in Zandvoort for the English Surtees team. With the Surtees TS19 Ford Cosworth started the race from the 26th starting position, he fell in the ninth round with an engine failure. 1977 try Andersson several times in vain to qualify with the much too heavy and outdated BRM P207 of the legendary English BRM team for another Grand Prix. In the same year, with no prospect of further advance his career, he ended his active career.
