Conrad Quensel

Conrad Quensel ( born December 10, 1767 in Skåne, † August 22, 1806 at Castle Karlberg in Stockholm) was a Swedish naturalist. He was the grandson of the astronomer Conrad Quensel.

Quensel 1783 student at the University of Lund, placed there in 1787 his philosophical master's exam in 1789 and undertook a study trip to Lapland, where he described several new species of insects. From 1791, he was an employee of the botanical garden at the University of Uppsala, from 1797 doctor of medicine and director of the Natural Cabinet after 1798 at the Academy of Sciences in Stockholm. Later he became a teacher of Chemistry and Natural History at the Military Academy Karlberg Castle, where he was awarded the title of professor in 1805.

Quensel wrote most of the text of the first four volumes of the Tafelwerk " Svensk Botanik " (1802-1843) with engravings of Johan Wilhelm Palmstruch. He also wrote the text for the first volume of " Svensk Zoologi " ( 1806-1809 ).
