Copa América – FIFA Futsal

Since 1992, the official Futsal South American Championship for national teams, since 2003 Copa América Futsal, (Spanish: Copa América de fútbol sala ) is of the CONMEBOL discharged. The first tournament was held in Brazil Aracaju.

History

Already from 1965 to 1989 took place in continental futsal championships in South America. These were held in the custody of the Federación Internacional de Fútbol de Salón ( FIFUSA ) or 1971 of the Asociación Mundial de Futsal (AMF ). However, it was not played below today recognized and sanctioned by FIFA Futsal rules. The first tournament was held in Asunción in Paraguay and was won by the hosts. The other ten competitions won Brazil.

Mode

Currently the following mode applies: The game is played in two groups of five teams in a simple round FFA. The respective group winners and runners- play cross from the semi-finals. The two losers play for third place, the winner to win the tournament.
