Cor de la Bryère, nicknamed " cords ", ( born April 23, 1968 in France, † April 27, 2000 in Germany ) was a dark bay stallion of the breed Selle Français, who is considered one of the most influential sires in modern warmblood breeding and frequently as is sire of the century called.

Cor de la Bryère was born in 1968 in France. His father was the thoroughbreds Rantzau, which produced many good horses in France. His mother was Quenotte B, a Luriosotochter, which went back to the Thoroughbred Horse Furioso. Both Rantzau and Furioso descended from Dark Ronald, Rantzau even in the paternal line. Despite his fantastic pedigree, suggested the French Commission to place the stallion. Then resolved its owner Xavier Ribard to sell him.

Breeding career

Since the Holsteiner Verband realized early 70s, how well French blood in the Oldenburg breed (which the Furiososöhne Furioso II and Futuro use ) made ​​, they wanted to implement this for their own race. From 1971 to 1984, Cor de la Bryére was stationed in Siethwende, 1985, he was at Zangersheide in Belgium, from 1986 to 1988 in Elmshorn, and from 1989 until his death in 2000 Sollwitt field.

1998 celebrated Cor de la Bryére his 30th birthday. He traveled in honor of sons, grandsons and great-grandchildren from all over Europe to Elmshorn. On 27 April 2000, Cor de la Bryére was euthanized at the age of 32 years due to acute heart disease.
