Coradion

Coradion chrysozonus

Coradion is a small, only three types of species of the butterfly fish ( Chaetodontidae ). It occurs to the Andaman Sea, the north-western Australia, the Great Barrier Reef, Papua New Guinea and Tonga in the central Indo-Pacific from southern Japan.

Features

Coradion species are 15 to 18 inches long. They are very high backs, body height often exceeds the body length. Their muzzle is short. The base color is the same for all species and silvery- white with four broad yellowish- brown transverse bands, one above the eye, two by hartstrahligen section of the dorsal fin to the dark ventral fins and the last of the soft-rayed part of the dorsal fin to the soft-rayed portion of anal fin. On the tail fins stem is a black armband. Ocelli may be present on the soft-rayed part of the dorsal fin and the anal fin soft-rayed the area.

System

Coradion is the sister group of a clade from Chelmonops and Chelmon ..

Way of life

Coradion species live in coral reefs, on sandy areas between the reefs and on steep slopes, which have a dense stone corals, juvenile fish in lagoons near sponges. Grown Coradion live in pairs. They feed on invertebrates, especially amphipods ( Amphipoda ), they scan of sponge surfaces and sponges. They are averse than other butterfly fish.
