Could've Been is a pop ballad, which was written by the American songwriter Lois Blaisch. In the interpretation of the singer Tiffany the song in early 1988 became a number -one hit on the Billboard Hot 100

Background information

Lois Blaisch wrote the song in the early 1980s. She had met the " man of her dreams ", but turned to another woman. Blaisch then was depressed, and when she could not sleep one night, her eyes fell upon a bouquet of wilted. This they called the initial spark for the song Could've Been (German: Could be ). She recorded a demo of the song.

In an appearance in the Hungry Hunter in Thousand Oaks Bradley Schmidt heard Blaisch sing the song. The piece he liked and he asked Blaisch a demo that he wanted to give the producer George Tobin. This Blaisch invited to a sample into the studio to which they appeared only with an acoustic guitar. Tobin was so impressed by their music that Blaisch had to play the song three times.
