American Idol is an American TV show and is broadcast on the Fox Network. It is the American version of the British show Pop Idol (adapted in Germany as Germany sucht den Superstar ). American Idol was for many years the most successful television format of the U.S. and peaked at over 30 million viewers. Several participants of the show gained long-term national and global successes, including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert.
