Courtney Thompson

Courtney Thompson (* November 4, 1984 in Bellevue, Washington) is an American volleyball player. She won the 2012 Olympic silver medal.

Career

Thompson began her career at Kent Lake High School in Kent (Washington). She finished school as valedictorian. During her studies she played from 2003 to 2006 the team of University of Washington. In January 2007, the setter debuted in the U.S. national team, with whom she took part in the Grand Prix and finished third at the Pan American Games. In 2008, she first played in Puerto Rico in Las Gigantes de Carolina, before she joined the Swiss first division club VBC Köniz. 2009 Thompson won with Köniz the Swiss Championship. Internationally, it was again at the Grand Prix in 2009 and it was the U.S. team NORCECA champion. In 2010 she was active only at Lancheras de Cataño and then at the Austrian Club SVS Post Schwechat. With Schwechat they won the national championship in 2011. International there was for them back a bronze medal at the Pan American Games. 2012 Thompson was Puerto Rican champion after her return to Lancheras de Cataño. With the national team she won the Grand Prix in 2012. Subsequently, she participated in the Olympics in London and won the silver medal. 2013, it plays in Volero Zurich in Switzerland's highest league.
