Craig Biddle

Craig Biddle ( born October 24, 1879 in Pennsylvania, † 1947 in New Jersey) was an American tennis player.

Career

Biddle, a former Philadelphia millionaire, took off in 1905 at the U.S. championships. In Europe, he became particularly 1913 and 1914 tournaments in England and on the Riviera in appearance. At Wimbledon, he was able to penetrate into the second round in 1913. On the side of the Persian prince Bahram Mirza Sardar Mass'oud he lost in March 1914, the finale of Nice, opposite Anthony Wilding and Arthur Balfour.

After the First World War Biddle reached in 1920 along with Molla Mallory, the mixed- finals of the U.S. Championships, but lost the Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman against the couple and Wallace Johnson in two sets. In the individual he was there in 1917, 1918 and 1921, reaching the quarter-finals. In 1927 he took part at the end of his career at the French Championships.
