Craig Valette

Craig Valette ( born October 7, 1982 in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He is currently playing for the Stockton Thunder in the ECHL on the position of the center.

Career

Valette began his career in the 1999/00 season with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League. After him only five points were managed in one and a half seasons and 71 games, the Blades transferred him in the course of the game in 2000 /01 within the League for the Portland Winter Hawks, where the Canadians managed to increase his offensive production slightly. The breakthrough in the WHL he succeeded in the 2002/03 season, when he broke the 30 - goal mark with 56 points and was the best scorer of his team.

Ungedraftet signed Valette for season 2003/ 04 a contract with the Cleveland Barons in the American Hockey League, who were the farm team of the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League at that time. Similar to the WHL he had first problems to adapt to the level of the league, which he never reached more than 20 points in three seasons until 2006. Only with the relocation of the Barons to Worcester and the Worcester Sharks renamed itself improved his offensive stats and he was in the 2006/07 season to the service providers of the team, because he could also put on the defensive accents. This also continued in the next game year, although he gained back less points on the offensive. Since his expiring contract was not renewed in the summer of 2008, he became a free agent at first to the Stockton Thunder in the ECHL. After a good start with three points scorer from the first two games of the season to him, the Houston Aeros of the AHL early November submitted a sample contract. This was dissolved in 15 games in which Valette get only two assists mid-December, after which he returned to the Thunder in the ECHL. Towards the end of the month he received from the Syracuse Crunch also an AHL contract sample, which was dissolved after two weeks and six games completed games.
