Saskatoon Blades
The Saskatoon Blades are a professional Canadian ice hockey team from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, which currently plays in the junior Western Hockey League.
History
The Saskatoon Blades was founded in 1964 in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, 1966, the team then moved to the Western Hockey League. Thus, the blades are the only team that still plays since the establishment of the WHL in their original hometown, as the Regina Pats even still play in Regina, however, were changed back in the early years of the WHL for a few seasons in the SJHL. First, the blades wore their home games at the Saskatoon Arena from 1988 moved the franchise finally to the " Saskatchewan Place", today's Credit Union Centre in order. In the new, 11,310 -seat arena, the Memorial Cup Blades wore from 1989, in which they failed at the Swift Current Broncos only in the finale. 1992 and 1994 the team reached the finals twice at the Ed Chynoweth Cup, the championship of the WHL, both finals series, however, were lost in seven games against the Kamloops Blazers. Since the blades never won the WHL championship, this represents the longest period without a title in the entire Canadian Hockey League dar.
