Winnipeg Warriors

The Winnipeg Warriors were a Canadian ice hockey team from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The team played from 1980 to 1984 in one of the three highest Canadian Junior Hockey League, the Western Hockey League ( WHL).

History

The Winnipeg Warriors were founded in 1980 as a franchise of the Western Hockey League. In its four years of existence, the team reached the playoffs for the Ed Chynoweth Cup, where they 1982/83 Lethbridge Broncons already subject in the qualifying round in the best-of -five series with a sweep only once. In the 1983/84 season, the Warriors won only nine of the 72 regular season games, which they completed the worst season ever by WHL Victoria Cougars (1989 /90).
