Kootenay Ice
The Kootenay Ice are a Canadian Junior Hockey team from Cranbrook, British Columbia, that plays in the Western Hockey League. Play their home games in the franchise in Cranbrook Recreational Complex, which is also known simply by the fans only RecPlex.
History
In 1996, the team was founded as Edmonton Ice, In 1998, they moved from Edmonton to Cranbrook to where you continued to play as Kootenay Ice in the WHL. 2002 won the Ice the Memorial Cup, the championship of the umbrella organization CHL, which is played annually between the masters of Canada's three top junior leagues WHL, OHL and QMJHL. 2000, the franchise participated for the first time in this competition, after winning the championship of the WHL for the first time in club history. In the 2010/11 season the team won for the third time in its history, the championship of the WHL and the Ed Chynoweth Cup, now renamed Champion Clubs' Cup. In the playoff finals, the team prevailed in five games against the Portland Winter Hawks.
