Riley Armstrong (ice hockey)
Riley Armstrong ( born November 8, 1984 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for EV Landshut in the DEL2 on the position of the right winger since July 2013. His older brother Colby Armstrong plays in the National Hockey League.
Career
Armstrong began his career in the 2001/ 02 season in the Canadian junior leagues unterklassigen Saskatchewan. For the season 2002 /03 he moved to the Western Hockey League to the Kootenay Ice. After 65 games and 16 points scorer in his rookie season, the striker left the team and moved to just one year within the league to the Everett Silvertips. There he could point his yield from the previous year with 44 points more than double.
Since Armstrong had never been selected in NHL Entry Draft, took him in the summer of 2004, the Cleveland Barons, the former farm team of the San Jose Sharks of the American Hockey League as a free agent contract. There he completed two solid seasons, but aufzeigten his offensive shortcomings with only 19 respectively nine points. Due to the relocation of the Barons after the season 2005/ 06, which were moved to Worcester in the State of Massachusetts and renamed the Worcester Sharks, Armstrong also moved there. After his best season so far and an enormous increase in performance compared to previous years, the Sharks extended his contract by a further year to the end of the season 2007/08. The power forward finished the following season seamlessly to the services and reached 34 points.
After a new contract extension in the summer of 2008 he was appointed first time in the NHL squad the San Jose Sharks during the 2008/09 season and made his NHL debut. However, it remained on two assignments and he continued to operate mainly in the AHL on. Despite his improved game that was particularly evident in the playoffs, his expiring contract was not renewed. He then signed a contract with the Calgary Flames. This transferred the Canadians on 3 March 2010 in exchange fo Andy Delmore to league rivals Detroit Red Wings, the first sent him to their farm team in the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins. After the right-handed shooter ran aground in November 2011 for two games for the Utah Grizzlies, he was taken from the Barys Astana in the KHL under contract. After just nine starts Canadians signed for the rest of the season into an agreement with the Augsburg Panthers in the DEL.
In the season 2011/12 started with the Elmira Jackals Armstrong from the ECHL, but was borrowed in November for four weeks in the AHL Binghamton Senators club. After his return to the Jackals it pulled the striker for the rest of the season again to Europe - this time to the Finnish SM- liiga representative Saimaan Pallo. The following season, the right-handed shooter returned to the ECHL to the Utah Grizzlies, where he took over the captain's office. For the 2013/14 season, signed a contract with Armstrong German second division EV Landshut.
